Crown Victoria

Classic Car Profile: Ford Crown Victoria

When it comes to classic American cars, the Ford name ranks right at the top. From the earliest days of the Model T to the on again, off again love affair with the Crown Victoria, this company has often set the bar others seek to attain.

The Crown Vic as it is often called was originally produced in 1955 and 1956. Original Crown Vics are quite a boon to come across since production ceased so quickly on the models. Collectors, in fact, will find it is not uncommon for good condition 1955 Crown Victoria models to fetch $30,000 to $100,000 or more.

Initially a coupe with two doors and six seats, the classic was distinguished from the regular Victoria in the Ford line by a decorative stainless steel band that ran along the roofline. This feature essentially gave the roof a crowned appearance. The full-sized car also featured a sweeping design with rounded lights and the perfect body embellishments to make a two-toned paint job look fantastic. This V8 beauty was a follow up to the Ford LTD in production. Just like the LTD, the Crown Victoria was and continues to be favored as a police car and fleet vehicle.

Although the original rear-wheel drive Crown Victoria models were appreciated by some, especially those building fleets, the model did not initially sell well. Sluggish sales, in fact, led Ford to shelve the model for a time. It did not reappear on the market until 1979. At this point, Ford introduced the LTD Crown Victoria. This four-door design was shorter and less bulky than the original version. The changes resulted in improved handling, ride and fuel economy. The LTD version came with two engine types, a 255 CID V8 and a 302 V8. Most models made between 1979 and 1980 were three speeds with an automatic transition. An AOD four-speed was an option that was made available.

The reintroduction of the Crown Victoria paid off for Ford with sales and production continued. In the 1980s, the LTD Crown Victoria was a hit with both law enforcement and civilians. Ford, in fact, began producing two versions by 1983. Models for the general public offered a fuel-injected V8. The police version boasted a 5.8 liter V8 with a Variable Venturi carburetor.

During the 1980s, a number of alterations were also made to the Crown Vic design. In 1983, for example, central fuel injection was introduced. By 1986, this had been replaced by a sequential fuel injection system that was electronic.

The success of the reintroduced Crown Victoria line has led to production of this design since the late 1970s. Although many changes have occurred through the years, the model continues to be one of top in the Ford line for luxury combined with speed and handling. The 1990s did see a break off of the police version of the car. The Crown Victoria Police Interceptor was officially introduced in 1999.

Early Shelby Mustang History

Carroll Shelby was a racing legend even before his entry into the history books as a Ford Mustang tuner. His victory at Le Mans and fame behind the wheel of Allards is what drove Ford to turn to him with the effort of turning the sports coupe Mustang into a true racing vehicle.

While the production numbers of Shelby Mustangs is low, the influence these cars had on the industry is impressive. They began a tradition of racing legends and auto manufacturers turning out special production vehicles in low numbers but with great appeal. While Shelby ended his relatonship in the early 70s with Ford, their paths would cross again when in 2005 Ford released the latest iteration of the Mustang legend.

1965 Early Mustang

The first Shelby version of the Mustang appeared in 1965. All 1965 Shelbys were painted Ford "Wimbledon White" with optional Guardsman Blue stripes. Although most of the 1965 Shelbys you see on the road today have Le Mans stripes, less than forty percent of the 1965 GT 350s came factory equipped with them. All GT 350s featured rocker panel stripes with the GT350 name. The engine was a modified K-code 289 cublic inch Windsor V8 with special "Cobra" Valve Covers, tri-Y headers, a special intake manifold and Holley carburetor increased power from 271 to 306 hp.

Approximately the first 300 GT 350s produced were "rear battery" cars, meaning the car's batteries were trunk-mounted. Customer complaints of acid-fumes led to the creation of the Cobra Battery Caps, which vented the acid fumes outside of the car by way of hoses exiting through the trunk floor panels. An estimated 50 1965 GT 350s (around serial number 200) came equipped with the very rare Cobra battery caps. Vehicle production changed shortly thereafter, leaving the battery in the engine compartment. Today, the most desirable of the 1965 GT 350s are the units with factory installed rear batteries.

1966 Shelby Mustangs

The 1966 was different in body color (non-white versions were introduced - colors included blue, red, green and black, as well as the original white) and trim. The "Le Mans" stripes were continued as an option, as in 1965. It featured special quarter-panel windows and rear air scoops on each side and an optional automatic transmission. A fold-down rear seat was now standard as well. Where early 1965 cars had black engine blocks, 1966 and later cars had the 289 engine painted blue.

The first 252 GT-350s for 1966 were "carry-over" cars. They had the 1965 Ford Mustang Bodies and 1965 Ford Mustang serial numbers under their Shelby serial numbers. They had mostly 1965 features including standard Koni shock and Engines painted black. Blue engines did not occur in 1966 until after these 252 "carry-over" models were produced. 1966 production was 1373 fastbacks including (2) prototypes and (4) drag cars and (252) "carry-over" models with Ford Mustang 1965 bodies. 1001 Hertz fastbacks were produced including (2) prototypes. 4 convertibles were also produced for a total of 2378 units for 1966.

Shelby struck a deal with the Hertz Corporation to produce a special line of GT350s for rent which were subsequently sold to the public after their rental-car lives were finished. These GT350H cars are quite rare and sought-after today, with some examples selling for more than $420,000. Shelby produced 1,000 of these cars: 800 in Raven Black, and 50 each in Candy Apple Red, Wimbledon White, Sapphire Blue and Ivy Green. All Hertz cars featured gold LeMans stripes and rocker panel stripes. Early "Hertz" cars were available with 4 speed manual transmissions until so many cars were returned from rental with burned and broken clutch assemblies that all of the later cars shipped to Hertz were equipped with an automatic transmission. These cars tend to be abused in early life from hard usage in the rental car fleet. Good restored examples can be found.

1967 GT350s and GT500s

The new 1967 Mustang was followed with a new Shelby. It featured a 1967 Mercury Cougar tail light panel minus the chrome trim, a flip-up spoiler, and two sets of air scoops on each side. This was also the first American car to feature a factory roll bar. Surfaces such as the hood and trunk lid were made of fiberglass instead of steel for light weight and ease of manufacturering.

This year also saw the introduction of the GT500 alongside the continued GT350. The new GT500 featured a 428 cubic-inch big-block V8. This is also one of the most famous Shelby Mustangs.

A modified GT500 clone, known as "Eleanor", was featured alongside Nicholas Cage in the 2000 remake of Gone in 60 Seconds. This modified GT500 body style is incredibly popular today, and is partially responsible for the resurgence of Shelby Mustang prices in recent years.

A convertible prototype of the GT500 was made in 1967, which was designated to be destroyed. Before Ford could destroy the prototype, it was stolen. The car was eventually recovered and sold as '68.

1968 GT350, GT500 and GT500-KR

The Shelby GT350 Mustangs were powered by a 302 cubic-inch V8 while the GT500 came equipped with the massive 428 cubic-inch Police Interceptor engine. In February of 1968, the GT500-KR became available and was considered the ultimate Shelby. Under the hood was a 428 cubic-inch Cobra-Jet V8 which produced 360 horsepower. The name 'KR' meaning 'King of the Road' was a quick marketing move by Carroll Shelby who had caught wind that Chevrolet was about to unleash a marketing campaign that featured the 1968 Corvette as the 'King of the Road.' After a quick copyright search, they found that the 'KR' and 'King of the Road' had not been copyrighted. Stickers, photos, and decals were quickly made by Shelby and his crew and placed on the new GT500.

1969 and 1970 GT350, GT500

Carroll Shelby terminated his agreement with Ford in the summer of 1969. The GT350 and GT500 for the 1969–70 model years received extensive facelifts, the body alone increasing in length by 4 inches. Ford was heavily involved with design and style decisions, with Shelby having very little input. Production of Shelby Mustangs ceased with the 1970 model year. The 1970 models were in fact left over 1969 models. VIN tags from 1969 Shelby's were removed and replaced with 1970 Shelby VIN's with careful supervision from FBI agents.

Celebrity Tattoos: Victoria “Posh” Beckham

Since today is Wednesday and it is time for another celebritytattoo post I thought I would go with former Spice Girl Victoria “Posh” Beckham. One of the reason I decided to do her today is because of the post I wrote yesterday about tattoos being trashy or sexy. Now it should be no surprise to people that Victoria has several tattoos and they are in noticeable places. But in my opinion the way she carries herself and they attitude she has her tattoos do not look trashy to me at all.

Victoria has five tattoos as of now and living up to her Posh nickname she has kept them classy if that makes any sense. Her first tattoo is on her lower back and it is five stars. The five starts represent her, David and their three sons, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz.

Her second tattoo is going down the back of her neck. Victoria and David got these matching tattoos on their 6th wedding anniversary.  It is in Hebrew and is from the Song of Songs 2:16: I am my beloved and my beloved is mine. Which is you remember Christina Aguilera has this same tattoo.

The third tattoo that Victoria has is MAY 08 1997 in roman numerals tattooed on her wrist. Strangely enough this is the first time the two had sex and Victoria thought it was a great event in her life to be remembered.

The forth  tattoo she has is very self explanatory it is the DB on her wrist which stands for her husband David Beckham.

The last and newest of Victoria’s tattoos is located on her wrist under the Roman numerals. However, no one is quit sure what is says. To me looks like it could say De Integra, De Enegra or De Intopa.

Shelby Mustang

Ford Mustang Shelby Gt500kr is the New Knight Rider Star Car

The most powerful Ford Mustang ever to be created is the new 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby Gt500KR. Fittingly, this supercharged car is the new K.I.T.T. or Knight Industries Three Thousand for the highly anticipated Knight Rider TV series. The producers of the show couldn’t have made a better choice in this TV series update of the 80’s classic.

The Ford Mustang remains to be one of the greatest automobile success stories of all time. With its famous powerful engine that the Mustang is known for, almost half of American sports car owners have a Mustang. The Ford Mustang is basically the icon for American muscle and sheer power, named after a steed that resembles such characteristics.

The 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR is the most powerful Mustang ever produced. It packs a 540-horsepower 5.4 liter supercharged V8 engine along with a Ford Racing Power Upgrade Pack. It also sports excellent suspension tuning, carbon composite hood, 18-inch alloy wheels, and a special design which drew inspiration from classic Shelby Mustangs. Its exterior is complete with special striping in celebration of the Mustang’s 40th anniversary.

The interiors of the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR has a sporty look and feel to entice most racing enthusiasts and even casual car owners. The digital LED display in the front looks spectacular along with other instrumentation display icons. The black racing-inspired seats are perfect for the Mustang’s rugged and powerful persona.

The Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 1.77 seconds. It can travel a fourth of a mile within 3.87 seconds. Even with its 3500-pound frame it can still achieve such results. It has a titanium and aluminum body with a front engine on-demand all wheel drive chassis. Its V8 internal combustion engine is equipped with a Whipple supercharger for added boost.

Further specs of the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR are available in certified Mustang dealers near you. You can also view full specifications of this super car online. Take note that the real specs of this car and the specs used in the TV series are quite different.

In the new TV series Knight Rider, the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR is the new Knight Industries Three Thousand which replaced the Knight Industries Two Thousand. The new KITT also has features that are quite similar to the old KITT in the series. However, many years have passed since the last Knight Rider series and much have changed in terms of the power and design of the car.

The new KITT features a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR which is packed with a 550-horsepower solar hybrid engine, sports suspension, metallic paint with nanotechnology camouflage system, morphing license plate, Xenon headlamps with night vision, self-regenerating armor plating, high speed internet connection, voice activated GPS, military satellite access, biomedical scanner, remote access, and other High Tech features and gadgetry. The TV series reprises the role of KITT as the most advanced car in the world and nothing else comes close to the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR in the real world standards.

The Dazzling Narrative of the Classic Mustangs, How the Namesake Originated

For many car enthusiasts, the Mustang is ruled to be one of the most esteemed. But how did this favorite vehicle really come to be? Well, it all started back in spring of 1964. Lee Iacocca, the General Manager of Ford Motor Company, always thought of having a medium sized sports car and proclaiming it as the next contender in street wars. But Ford decided to go for broke and unveil a brand new type of car. What was born of Iacocca’s budding concept is the “Pony Car”. It was engineered, in the beginning, as a two-passenger modeled after the European-style, but a business-savvy Iacocca knew that the future of this new model banked on a large number of sales. Thus the design was refined further and the Ford Mustang was designed after the Falcon, which was compact in design, so that production expenses could be shaved. This new vehicle was originally named P-51, after the famous fighter plane. But, many comparisons were made to the Mustang, a type of horse and it ultimately became both symbol and theme to the cars. True to its namesake, the Mustang sold 22,000 units on the very first day of it's debut and went on to sell a million more within the next few years thus gaining the respect of both the industry and car enthusiasts during that time.

By the time 1966 came rolling in, the Mustang was developed yet again. They altered the design of the instrument panel to differentiate the Mustang from the Falcon. The 260 cubic inch V8 was also replaced with 2 and 4 barrel types of the 289 cid V8. A year later, a 100 % revampment materialized in the design of the Mustang, these changes include a thicker sheet metal below its belt line, a meaner grille, a hollow tail panel, and a fastback roof line for the fastback design of the vehicle’s body. These 1967 Shelby’s were more advanced in terms of design. It also had more elements that provided luxury to the passenger. The 1967 Shelby’s were the last to be designed by the Shelby-American Company. Every model subsequent were built by Ford with negligible involvement for Shelby. In 1968, the Mustang underwent some more changes. The grille was changed into something simpler and its 427 engines were powered down but even still, they were more than able to get people’s eye when motoring down the streets. Also in the same year was when Ford released what was to be their most infamous engine ever. The 428 Cobra Jet, as it was called, was rumored to have an output of 410 bhp. The Shelby’s were still in production and a new design, a convertible, was also made available. This convertible design was called the Shelby Cobra.

Through the subsequent years of 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972 and 1973 more adjustments were made to the original Mustang design. In 1969, the Shelby’s that were produced became more oriented to being a luxury car. The Boss Mustangs were also unveiled the same year. These Boss Mustangs were made to qualify for the NASCAR races. By 1970, the public still preferred the Cobra engine to the other engines that were coming out during that time. By 1971, Ford’s many years of being a total performance vehicle were coming to an end. This would also be the only year that Ford’s performance was considered to be declining. In 1973, several mistakes and changes in the rules forced modifications to the design of the Mustang as well. This time, what used to be a car produced for high performance debuted a new model, the Mustang II, with no claims to anything as marvelous as what its descendants had done.

Ford Mustang Magic – How It All Began

Ford Motor Company has sold well over 10 million Mustangs in the past 46 years and created 100 million more memories of youthful indulgence, magical first dates and unforgettable Friday night cruises. Now, as the fifth-generation 2011 Mustang rolls off the assembly line and into Ford dealership showrooms across the country, many who have experienced and reveled in the Mustang mystique think back to how it all started.

The first Ford Mustang rolled off the assembly line in Dearborn, Michigan, on March 9th 1964. A month later, on April 17th 1964, Mustang made its worldwide debut. But, the journey from drawing board, to assembly line and to driveways all across the American landscape actually began many years before, in the fertile imagination of a young man named Lee Iacocca.

Iacocca joined the Ford organization in 1946.  Although trained as an engineer, he soon realized his personal passion and future was in sales. Iacocca spent years as a field manager helping dealers promote and sell some of Ford's most undesirable products.

In 1956, his "56 for $56" campaign, advertising that buyers could purchase a new 1956 Ford for only $56 per month, caught the attention of senior management. Robert McNamara, then vice president of Ford Division, summoned him to Detroit. Once there, Iacocca's sales savvy soon helped him lap everyone else on the executive fast track. In 1960, Ford chairman Henry Ford II promoted him to Vice President and General Manager of the Ford Division.

Iacocca had long thought that putting a back seat in a sports car would be a great idea. He reasoned that a well-styled, fun-to-drive compact car would appeal to America's growing number of Baby Boomers.

After a number of presentations to Ford board members, the first prototype 1962 Mustang I was produced. It was a mid-engine two-seat roadster, named after the legendary World War II P-51 Mustang fighter plane. On October 7th 1962, race driver Dan Gurney drove the Mustang I prototype over the U. S. Grand Prix course at Watkins Glen, New York.

Iacocca, however, wanted a more practical vehicle, one that would be cheap to produce and generate volume sales. Based on his time in the field as a Ford district manager, he knew its ultimate success would depend on three things:  great styling, strong performance and a low price.

After countless re-designs, the 1964 ½ Mustang emerged. The chassis, suspension and drive train components were taken from the Ford Falcon, but the finished vehicle featured a long sweeping hood, full-wheel cutouts, a functional rear seat and high-mounted grill with a free-spirited Mustang as its centerpiece. Multiple extra-cost options gave the buyer an opportunity to customize their Mustang and also generate generous extra profits for Ford.

Automotive legend has it that other names considered for the first Mustang included the Cougar, Thunderbird II, T-Bird II, Torino, Turino and T-5. Ford executives agreed that the name Mustang was a perfect fit for the low slung, dramatically styled vehicle, but they objected to an image of a World War II fighter plane as the logo.

After months of debate, it was decided that the image of the galloping horse best represented the free spirit of the car and its intended buyers. To further drive home the message, the galloping horse on the Mustang logo is shown running the opposite way that trained racehorses run around a track.

Although purists argue that the Plymouth Barracuda beat the Ford Mustang to market by a full two weeks, American car buyers had never seen or experienced anything like the marketing and advertising blitz Ford created to launch the 1964 ½ Mustang.

The official press release announced, "Styling and features of expensive European road cars are combined with American mass-production price, compact economy and traditional Ford quality in the Mustang – a new line of cars from Ford Division of Ford Motor Company."

Ford actually previewed the showroom model Mustang to a continuous flow of automotive reporters and buff book writers beginning in January 1964. Product information and photos provided by Ford were put under an embargo, meaning reporters agreed not to reveal full details until the official public introduction.

But, the embargo didn't prevent them from filling pages and pages of their publications with speculation about how the new Mustang would be equipped or what it might look like. It was all part of the auto maker's plan to build buyer anticipation and excitement to a feverish pitch during the three months prior the Mustang's launch.

Ford also leaked information to some major publications. In early March, the Detroit Free Press received an anonymous tip that Walter Buhl Ford II, nephew of chairman Henry Ford II, was seen driving a prototype Mustang convertible to a luncheon in downtown Detroit. Photos soon appeared in the newspaper, as well as in Time and Newsweek.

In late March and early April 1964, Life, Look, Business Week, Esquire, Sports Illustrated and The Wall Street Journal, as well as every buff book and car magazine, included feature stories about the all-new Mustang.

On April 16th1964, Ford previewed the car to an estimated 29 million television viewers with ads that ran at precisely 9:30 pm on all three major networks, ABC, NBC and CBS.

On April 17th 1964, 2600 newspapers across the country ran full-page announcement ads, as well as lengthy feature articles. A flood of print and television advertising also followed, featuring ads of how fictional wallflowers were transformed into swingers once they owned a Ford Mustang. That same week, Lee Iacocca and the Mustang were also featured simultaneously on the covers of both Time and Newsweek.

The stage was now set for what would be one of the boldest and most exciting new car introductions ever conceived.

Quotes on Success- Application Matters

Quotes on success help to motivate and inspire you to do things you never thought possible. Famous people who have become successful are the leading authors of these quotes.

Before Success comes Failure

Many quotes on success stress that it is usually a hard endeavor and it is not easily gained. You must work doggedly in order to be considered successful. Many successful business men failed many times before they accomplished their goals or dreams. As stated by Thomas J. Watson, president of International Business Machines (IBM): “Would you like me to give you a formula for success? It’s quite simple, really. Double your rate of failure. You are thinking of failure as the enemy of success. But it isn’t at all. You can be discouraged by failure or you can learn from it, so go ahead and make mistakes. Make all you can. Because remember that’s where you will find success." You have to remember that before most successes were failures.

Qualities of Successful People

Many quotes on success extol the virtues found in people that are considered successful. The quotes list desire, persistence, determination, discipline, devotion, talent, drive and so on. Henry Ford, the founder of Ford Motor Company and innovator of modern assembly lines, added to that list of qualities needed: “The man who will use his skill and constructive imagination to see how much he can give for a dollar, instead of how little he can give for a dollar, is bound to succeed."  Give your all and see what is given in return.

Ability to dare to be more than expected

Quotes motivate you to really make positive changes in your life. You have been told that you cannot be something well, yet you feel passionately about it. Do not listen to the negative people that try to crush dreams. You should dare to be more than what is expected. You may face failures, but if it is something that you want to strive for, don’t stop trying. Academy-Award winning film producer, animator and entrepreneur Walt Disney, a successful man by any measure, inspired others when he said that success was attainable: “Somehow I can’t believe there are many heights that can’t be scaled by a man who knows the secret of making dreams come true. This special secret can be summarized in four C’s. They are: curiosity, confidence, courage, and constancy, and the greatest of these is confidence."

Overcome your fears

Quotes on success tell you how difficult it can be to attain. Sometimes the biggest obstacle to success is the fear you have about failing. You don’t even try. You don’t try for that new job, you don’t audition for the play, you don’t … If you don’t try something, it is a guarantee that you will not succeed.  As stated by Woody Allen:
"Seventy percent of success in life is showing up." Just show up and you could be the next person who has a famous quote on your own success.

Ford's Most Notorious Mistakes

American automakers sometimes take the brunt of the criticism for producing models that are ugly, useless, or even downright dangerous. Ford has had its share of beasts through the years in addition to several winners including the current Mustang for which demand cannot be met. For the fun of it let's take a look at some of the Ford models that have been derided down through the years.

Model T - What?! How can the car that introduced mass production make the list? Well, the car was fine, but Mr. Henry Ford's statement, "...you can have any color you want as long as it is black" has been attributed with the rise of General Motors [who gave its customers a choice in colors] which eventually dethroned Ford as the top automaker in the world. No, the Model T was fine, but Mr. Ford's marketing strategy was not.

Edsel - In September 1957, Ford launched a new division - Edsel - and introduced to America one of the weirdest looking cars. Sporting a "horse-collar" shaped grille - some equated it with a toilet seat - the Edsel line was hyped by Ford and rejected by consumers wholeheartedly. Expecting to build 200,000 Edsels in its first year of production, only 63,000 were built. Other "radical" aspects of the Edsel included a "floating" speedometer that glowed upon reaching a particular speed and an awkward push button transmission with controls attached to the hub of the steering wheel. Even with a quick makeover completed in time for the next model year, the Edsel limped along only to be pulled one month after the third model year vehicles were released.

Pinto - Hey, even I owned one! With a 2.3L inline four cylinder paired with a 4 speed manny tranny, the Pinto was Ford's answer during the 1970s to the onslaught of Japanese cars flooding the market. The compact rear wheel drive coupe, three door hatchback, or wagon sold fairly well until disaster hit: the revelation that the Pinto's gas tank was capable of exploding during a rear impact scared buyers away. Mercifully pulled after the 1980 model year; replaced by the popular Escort.

Mustang II - Ford tarnished the Mustang name during the 1970s with this forgettable and ugly model. Resembling a bloated and stretched Pinto, the Mustang II was weak, poorly made, and a terrible competitor against its arch rival, the Camaro. All was forgiven by the early 1980s with the return of a newly designed Mustang. Today's Mustang, on the other hand, is a sold-out success story as it took its styling cues from a Mustang of another era: the fastback cars of the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Before you point your finger at Ford, don't forget to recall some truly forgettable models, foreign and domestic. The Toyota Van was panned for its ugly styling and for having an engine that had to be dropped from the engine bay in order to do a tune up; the Chevy Vega - a Pinto wannabe; AMC's Pacer - the Jetson's car; the Suzuki Samurai and Isuzu Rodeo - flip over specialists; the Yugo - a thinly redone 1960s era Fiat; and countless other cars not worth the mention. You hope that automakers learn from their mistakes, but don't count on it. Maybe in another generation we will see a truly forgettable Ford show up, but for now there isn't one in the line up...hooray for that!

Bronco Headlights – Better Performance Through Better Lighting

Bronco was first introduced by Ford in 1966. It was used mainly for trails and had the ability to negotiate rough roads. It can be called the first sport utility vehicle which could serve as a family sedan, sports roadster, farm vehicle, or even a truck. Since then it has undergone continuous changes with some important changes in 1975 and 1992. However, it was not manufactured after 1996. In the beginning it was a small two door SUV. Later on its size was increased to Full Size. Some people still preferred the earlier compact car. Its power was increased and its body styling and interior were upgraded. A new grille was added and its front was improved. All Broncos were four wheel drive vehicles.

Though it was discontinued in 1996 it still retains its reputation of a tough and durable car. You can even now upgrade its looks by changing the accessories. Headlights are one of the most visible accessories which can impart a new look and feel to the car. They are available in a number of styles. By smartly choosing Bronco headlights you can give your car an exclusive look which can set it apart from other cars. They show you the way when visibility is poor and prevent unexpected to happen. The Bronco headlight assembly mainly includes the source of light, reflectors, lenses, and housing. There are devices to tilt the reflectors to cast the beam of light in the desired direction. The lights can be dimmed if it is feared that they may blind the driver of the vehicle coming from the opposite side. They contribute to safety on the road in a big way when the visibility is poor. They have, therefore, to conform to the regulations made by the authorities concerned. The headlights have to be sufficiently bright to be able to cover a longer stretch of road. . Fortunately now we have new and brighter sources of light like LED lights, Xenon lights etc.

Bronco with Bronco headlights will always attract attention on the road. You will feel safe and happy with these headlights. Your car will get a High Tech look with the latest headlights. You can see the latest Bronco headlights at www.ilovebodykits.com.

The words of Dr. Gerhard Schmidt, the vice president for the Ford Motor Company's researched and advanced engineering department, go, "This engine represents a significant milestone in Ford's research efforts in hydrogen technology. We have learned a great deal about hydrogen powered internal combustion engines during the development phase of this engine." And according to the company, such a move would actually mark off a part of auto industry that hydrogen could be used as a practical and usable fuel for motor vehicles.

If you are now interested about this new generation of engines, you should now know that the 6.8 liter V10 engine would be made available for the company's Ford E-450 hydrogen fueled shuttle buses. And yes, customers of Ford fleets would be receiving such buses mounted with the new engines sometime at the end of this year. First drop off would be in the area of Florida. Just imagine how it would be like ordering the latest high performance parts for Ford Crown Victoria and having these parts sent directly to your doorstep. This time, what would be sent to customers are buses with hydrogen engines.

Vance Zanardelli, the chief engineer for the company's hydrogen international combustion engines department, states, "We have only scratches the surface in terms of what can be achieved with hydrogen internal combustion engine technology and are serious about maintaining our edge in this field." Sure enough, this new generation of hydrogen engines is very efficient and could be used in all kinds of weather.

There are several types of ford stereo sets that are available in market and this can be fitted in various models. It will be much easier to install ford stereo in ford models since they will be more compatible. Ford models will not require any aftermarket parts for installation purpose. It is essential to identify how to remove the stereo that is being used at present in the car.

First step to be incorporated is removal of dash panel portion that contains the stereo. This can be undertaken by prying up the plastic clips that are present in the side portion of dash panel. A flat head screwdriver will be most appropriate for this purpose. The panel should be pulled with application of some pressure to remove clips from panel. The panel can be removed after this process.

The screw that fastens panel and stereo should be unscrewed with the help of Philips head screw driver. It is essential to pull stereo out of the panel to segregate panel from stereo. The wiring harness should be disconnected by plugging it out. The plugged wired harness should be connected with new stereo set.

The new stereo set should be placed inside the stereo set. The dash panel and stereo set should be screwed together with the help of Philips head screwdriver. This assembly of panel and stereo set should be pushed into appropriate place and secured with the help of plastic clips.

For unclipping of spring clips, it is essential to insert DIN tools into the two holes that are present at the sides of stereo sets. If a click sound is heard, it indicates that plastic clips are unlocked and can be removed in an easy manner. While pulling stereo set outwards, it is required to slightly pull DIN tool for easy ejection.

As mentioned earlier, the wiring harness should be unplugged and stereo set should be placed apart. The wiring harness should be plugged with new set and this assembly should be pushed inside on to its original place.

Thus, the above steps on how to install ford stereo clearly enumerates various procedures that are involved in replacement of stereo sets with newer model in an easy and effective manner.

Buying a Car: SUV or Sedan?

Scenario 1: OK. You got loads of money and you're in the market to buy a brand new car! Congratulations!

Scenario 2: Ok. You still have to earn that money to buy your car. But it won't hurt if you start dreaming about it now, right?

So, what are you buying? The power an SUV provides? Or would you go for the sleek sporty personality of a sedan? We have met a lot of buyers who have been mulling about this dilemma even right at the point of purchase. Here are some considerations that may help you decide:

SPORTS UTILITY VEHICLE

Originally designed for off-roads and difficult terrains, a Sport Utility Vehicle is designed with a body-on-frame chassis, high clearance, and packed with superior brute force.

Sports Utility Vehicles are the popular choice of vehicles for African safari, Australian outbacks, wilderness in Alaska, and the rough terrains of Asia. It is naturally not difficult then to associate this vehicle to someone who leads a life of adventure, an outdoorsman, or someone who is strong and dependable.

With this background of a Sports Utility Vehicle, there is now an emerging popularity among the rich and the famous to prefer SUVs to the usual sedans and sportscars. SUVs prove to be a convenient type of vehicle even in an urban setting. While rarely using its inherent superior engine power, an SUV can come in handy in deep snow and in pulling caravans, and trailers boats.

As more city dwellers drive SUVs, more have expressed displeasure with its truck-like rigid driving and gas-guzzling engines. Manufacturers appropriately respond with new models that are way much improved as they drive like cars, more luxurious cab features and accessories, and are more fuel efficient.

Here are some of the more popular SUVs: Hyundai Santa Fe, Toyota Land Cruiser, Land Rover Discovery, Ford Explorer.

Furthermore, as an answer to some allegations that an SUVs high center of gravity means increased probability of turning turtle, the manufacturers came up with cross over SUVs with lower center of gravity, more car-like features and design, but with the same brute power and much improved traction control and suspension.

Here are some of the more popular cross over SUVs: Mitsubishi Airtrek, Toyota Rav4, Volvo XC90

SEDANS

Sedans are hands-down winners when it comes to handling and maneuverability. They are more fuel efficient, and the new models now have luxurious features that are otherwise not standard in most SUVs (except the real high-end ones.)

Sedans are sleek and sexier; they won't dwarf you down when you stand beside it. They are more practical for everyday use, easier to park, can do faster acceleration and are easier to wash.

TYPES OF SEDANS

Sedans are the most basic types of automobiles. They are passenger cars, usually with four doors and two rows of seat with lots of space for adults at the rear compartment. It usually has a separate compartment that serves as storage trunk for loads at the rear.

The different types of sedans are: notchback sedans, fastback sedans, two-door sedans, hard top sedans, hatchback sedans and chauffeured sedans.

OK. Back to the question, which would you prefer? Perhaps re-phrasing the question as, 'what are your priorities? Functionality? Dependability? Form or function?' would help you decide. Happy hunting!
