Installation

Virtually all wood dash kits come backed with automotive-grade 3M tape and a sheet of instructions, or schematic. After that, it is a simple "peel-&-stick" operation. Even still, here are the basic installation steps you may want to follow once you receive your wood dash kit:

3) Coat the dash area that will receive kit pieces with adhesion promoter. Do this carefully and deliberately so that it does not "run" onto surrounding areas.

4) In the event that it is cool outside (below 65-75 degrees Fahrenheit), you may use a blow-dryer to warm pieces. This will enable them to conform easier to your dash.

5) Peel back tape and stick pieces into place. For larger pieces, unpeel bottom-first when sticking. This will allow you to adjust as needed. When satisfied, simply peel away the remaining tape and adhere the rest of the piece.

6) Once content with positioning, press pieces into place firmly. "Thumb" them down for a tight, concise fitment.

A carryover from 2004, the 2005 Ford Thunderbird was the last of its kind to be manufactured. The last time it rolled off the Ford Motor Company's manufacturing plants was also the time of the vehicle's fiftieth anniversary.

This 2005 Ford Thunderbird is a luxury convertible that has been available in three trims that ranges from the Deluxe package to the 50th anniversary package. Mold – The Good and Bad

Can we fall sick due to mold presence in our environment? Well, yes and no.

Two people exposed to mold in a room will react differently. One may feel stuffy and start to get a headache, while the other may feel nothing at all. This depends on their level of sensitivity.

We all know that there is differing sensitivities between healthy grown-ups compared to children, the elderly and the sick. The former obviously have robust immune system while the latter will react stronger to mold.

Another type of mold infection is the eye infection caused by the Fusarium species which can contaminate contact lens solution. Although not common, when such infection happens, the situation can be severe and blindness may result.

Are Genius Made Or Born?

The main problem with the idea that we are a product of our genes and nothing else is that we are not born and kept in isolation in a bubble for the rest of our lives.  As human beings we arrive with a survival kit, but we grow and develop in a process of constant interaction with our environment.  Is it nature or nurture that predicts our future?  For the record, all the current indications are that it is just too simple to say we are born with what we get and that’s the end of the story. 

 

What would be the outcome of our brain development if we didn’t have any social contact from the time we were born?  Looking at cases where children who have been discovered who were raised with very little social interaction, brain development within these children, including speech and language were severely impaired.  Providing children with a nurturing, supportive and socially interactive environment is not just good for their self-esteem, emotional development and overall well being it is especially important for their cognitive brain function and intellectual development.  Is nature or nurture the determinant of genius?  Environment cannot be ignored in human development for the fact that the genes we inherit are finite, whereas the brain’s ability to develop billions of new connections between the cells it is born with is infinite.  Education, knowledge, learning and experiences, all of these will greatly influence the number of new connections each of our brains will make over our lifetime.

 

In the past, we were told that we are born with a certain number of brain cells and if you do not use your gray cells, you will lose them.  What scientists discovered recently is that our brain grows new cells or neurons all the time and as with our existing brain cells, the trick is to stimulate them to prevent them from dying off.  This may not seem like a great discovery but in reality, it has huge implications.  It changes everything.  What we are born with matters, but what we do with it matters even more.

 

So are the brains of geniuses different from everybody else? The problem with this question is that we don’t know if there is such a thing as atypical genius brain.  This is because there is a lack of genius brains for scientists to tinker with.  Another problem is that the chances of a person being recognized as one is increased by the number of years they have been dead.

 

Einstein  left his brain to science and one of the most notable things about Einstein’s brain is its dense network of connectivity in relation to the brains of other people his age.  In other words, his brain was very well wired up.  But, and this is a big but, whether Einstein’s brain was born like this, or whether it developed to become like this over time, via  his interaction with his environment, a life filled with research and learning, is something no one knows for certain. This is because no one knows what his brain looked like when he was born. 

When you remove all the hype and mystery surrounding a genius, you are left with a simple fact.  All known genius began their journey in the world just like any other baby.  They arrived in a safe environment with a brain and a body hungry for development.  If you don’t know if your child is a genius or not, you can make the odds in his favor by adopting early childhood development and  training.  Such training take mere minutes a day and the effects last a lifetime.  Yes your baby can read much earlier and learn math much faster if you employ the proper tools without the stress to both mother and child.  Such skills will enhance the child’s  learning ability and will last a lifetime.

 Brought into American Legislation in 1970, the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) was enacted into law by the Congress of the United States as Title II of the Comprehensive Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Act of 1970. Known as 'The' federal U.S. drug policy under which the manufacture, importation, possession, use and distribution of certain substances is regulated. The Act is known to cover many schedules of drugs, it is the standard which any court in the USA tries drug offenders.

.Announced in 1969 by President Richard, he stated that the Attorney General, John N. Mitchell, was putting together a comprehensive measure to  more effectively meet the narcotic and dangerous drug problems by combining all existing federal laws into a single new statute. The CSA didn't merely merge federal drug laws but changed the nature of federal drug law and policy, expanded the scope of federal drug laws and expanded federal power in policing and prosecuting those would offend it.

 Schedule I controlled substances were the first initiative brought on and actively enforced, it is described as a drug or other substance that has a high potential for abuse, has absolutely no use as medical treatment in the United States of America, or it has been understood that a lack of accepted safety has been reached even when used under medical supervision. Commonly referred to as the most dangerous drugs attainable through illegal measure, no prescriptions can ever be issued for these controlled substances.

 Examples of schedule I controlled substances include GHB, an extremely powerful anesthetic otherwise known as 'Date Rape', Heroin, MDMA or 'Ecstasy', PCP or 'Angel Dust' and countless other derivatives of each of these drugs are classified in this list. One strange law which most countries disagree with exists in that Cannabis or THC is still classified as a schedule I controlled substance even though it has been approved for medical consumption. A notion and argument many activists have more recently put to light with so many new states creating private legislature to allow medical usage despite it being illegal federally. Proverbial loopholes in the current system and draft of the Controlled Substances Act which are being actively targeted by states with many avid supporters of Cannabis. Medical usage for it has been proven in almost every developed country as an effective agent in combating many of the most dangerous illnesses, diseases such as cancer, or cerebral palsy, glaucoma and many forms of arthritis. In Canada, links and arguments have even surfaced as to it being a legitimate method of combating depression, anxiety, stress, and irregular sleeping patterns, albeit not without extensive medical assessment.

 Even a drug such as psilosybin has been classified under the Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act, despite it having extremely religious and spiritual roots to the indigenous peoples of North America. Many tribal shamans and priests would commonly use 'Magic Mushrooms' to achieve a heightened state of enlightenment. While allowed in certain states such as Florida to be 'picked' and 'possessed' in the wild, they are not able to be consumed. Another very, very strange loophole which exists in the CSA, something decommissioning it more or less as Florida introduced new state law repealing it's federal classification. Thus when taking into account what a Schedule I drug is, it's often also important to read any other secondary state laws that may apply to where you are, over the CSA which is constantly in place. In numerous situations, one can find ways around how it is classified by the CSA, and find more updated versions introduced in a secular manner by a specific state.

 Re-vamped over the course of the last forty years, since the introduction of the CSA are numerous methods of drug-testing. From urine and saliva drug tests which can test for a single substance such as opiates, THC, cocaine, amphetamines and methamphetamine's, to multi drug dips that can test for as many as eleven illicit substances; these are easily the easiest, fastest, and most cost-effective methods of drug testing. More recently introduced to the public are hair follicle tests which can look back as far as three months to see if someone has abused a narcotic. Collecting 60-80 follicles of hair which are at-least an inch and a half long, the specimen is then sent to a laboratory for analysis; so extensive and detailed a method of testing, it will be able to show just how deep the abuse is. Whether it is a casual drug-user or a habitual abuser. Laboratory urine analysis also exists which is almost identical in measuring exact levels of abuse to hair follicle testing; it's only flaw is that it has a limited time-frame of detection. Substances such as cocaine and alcohol will be expelled and rendered undetectable by this method if 72 hours or more has elapsed.  Ultimately one must weigh in what exactly he is trying to weed out and just how much he can afford on drug testing, Law Enforcement agencies, faced with that problem have more often then not opted for urine analysis, even when hair follicle testing is known to be more effective in pin-pointing abuse; the reason is cost, some people and agencies just cannot afford to spend seventy dollars or more for a single drug test.

The Annual Alternative Minimum Tax “Patch” and “Indexing” Explained

The Patch

Each year for the past several years Congress has “fixed” the AMT problem by enacting a temporary “patch.”  With the signing of the stimulus bill this past February, 24 million taxpayers who otherwise would have been in the AMT in 2009 are spared – but only for one year.  Come January 1, 2010 these 24 million people again risk falling into the AMT.

What is this all about?  It’s simply another example of the law of unintended consequences.  When the first minimum tax was enacted back in 1969, it seemed like a good idea – 155 taxpayers making over $200,000 were paying no taxes at all under the regular income tax, so a “minimum” tax would make sure that they did. But today that 155 has exploded to over 4 million who are paying the AMT.  Unfortunately, this patch does nothing for the 4 million – it just keeps the other 24 million from joining this exclusive club.

Why is this happening?  The principal reason for this kudzu vine-like growth in the number of AMT victims is the failure to index the AMT for inflation, while the Regular Tax is so indexed.  The annual patch fixes this with a catch-up AMT indexing adjustment.

Why just a one-year patch and not a permanent fix?  The answer is simple economics – the revenue loss for the 2009 fix alone is 70 billion dollars.  A permanent fix, using Congress’ 10-year forecasting model, could approach a cost of nearly 1 trillion dollars. Now you’re starting to talk about real dollars.

Indexing

Under our system, tax brackets are progressive – i.e., the more you make, the higher your tax bracket.  Some time ago Congress decided it wasn’t fair to have you fall into a higher tax bracket if your only increase in income simply reflected inflation.  For example, in 2008 a single taxpayer hit the 33% bracket when taxable income reached $164,550.  In 2009, that same taxpayer can earn $171,550 before hitting 33% - a 4.3% increase.  Presumably the CPI increased by 4.3% during this same period.

For the Alternative Minimum Tax the level at which an AMT payer goes from the 26% bracket to 28% ($175,000) has not changed.  Instead, the Congressional fix is to index the AMT “exemption amount.”  For a single taxpayer, in 2008 the exemption amount was $46,200.  This is an increase of 4.2% over what it was the previous year, because of Congress’ 2008 patch.  If the patch is not enacted, however, the exemption amount reverts all the way back to what it was in 1993 for singles - $33,750.  This is the reason such a large number of taxpayers – 24 million – are left hanging out there every year.

Ford: 'UK Motorists Need Breakdown Cover'

One of the world's biggest motor manufacturers has this week waded into the argument that UK motorists are amongst the worst on the planet when it comes to protecting themselves against breakdown risk.

In research carried out by Ford motor group one in five UK car insurance policy holders DO NOT have any form of breakdown cover.

That figure rose even higher for those under 34 years old, much to the concern of the manufacturing giant.

The revelation comes just weeks after consumer testing group Which? Found that one in six of us will suffer at least one breakdown per year but it is thought that rising fuel costs are forcing many to make ‘bad decisions' about breakdown cover.

Speaking of the findings a spokesman for Ford said:  "It's a story we hear often but while trying to avoid the cost, many of these drivers could regret skipping basic maintenance and roadside cover. We always advice owners to make sure they are properly covered.'

But with estimates that Brits spent more than £35 million more on petrol during the bank holiday just gone because of rising fuel costs it is understandable that some motorists may think again according to Rescue My Car.

Spokesman Craig Astbury said: ‘We totally understand that running a car is so much more expensive than it once was but what we try to explain is that breakdown cover should save you money over the long term, he added.

This just goes to show then you can never be to sure when it comes to your vehicle. With one of the biggest manufacturers, in terms of quality and reliability, giving advice to ensure people are properly covered and not to take a risk.

A rock climber throws a small first aid kit to another climber who is higher up the mountain. The initial velocity of the kit is 18 m/s at an angle of 67° above the horizontal. At the instant when the kit is caught, it is traveling horizontally, so its vertical speed is zero. What is the vertical height between the two climbers?

Imagine the throw as a parabola. The kit is caught horizontally when its vertical velocity is zero. Therefore, it is caught at the maximum of its parabola. Here are our initial y values:

vy (final y velocity) = 0 m/s
ay (y acceleration) = -9.8 m/s^2

First, let's find the initial y velocity by using some right triangle trigonometry. Draw out the triangle yourself, and you will see that 18sin(67) = 16.569 m/s. That is our initial y velocity, or voy (v-not y).

We are looking for vertical displacement (y), so we can use this equation: vy^2 = voy^2 + 2ay * y

Let's plug and play here.

0^2 = 16.569^2 + 2 * -9.8 * y
-274.535 = -19.6y
y = 14 m

The vertical height between the two climbers is 14 meters.
